A Beginning
It seems that during every mini (or major) career crisis I go through the solution has always been to go back to the beginning. In my case the beginning means illustration.
I was formally trains in general and fashion illustration, obtaining my degree from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, and after having graduated (some 13 years ago…yikes!) it’s been difficult getting my illustration career off the ground. My entire secular career, although in the fashion industry, has decidedly not been creative (at least in the artistic sense of the word). And while I’ve always had an idea of returning to illustration full force, I, like so many, find launching a (fulltime) career in illustration to be an incredibly difficult feat.
So my goal in starting this blog is to encourage others as well as to propel myself forward along this trajectory—finally working hard for my illustration career. It is sure to document my disappointments and setbacks, but more importantly, helpful research and tips that I’ve collected along the way. Also, things I’d like to share whether they be personal projects or other lifestyle-esque pursuits.
I hope you join me on this journey and that it will lead to bigger and better things.
